Are you new to sales? Here are seven tips for you

How can a newbie in sales start selling as soon as possible? The best way is to rely on time-proven rules and techniques that work whatever your particular field might be. Here are seven tips meant not only for sales newbies, but maybe also to old hands in want of inspiration.

1. In-depth knowledge of the product

You can't have yourself cornered by any kind of question about your product. To appear sufficiently knowledgeable, you have to know all the details regarding your proposal.

2. Stick to the plan

As SalesForce blog states, every sales cycle consists of certain steps that you need to take one by one without skipping them or going backwards. Proceed according to this plan in all your cycles.

3. Beware of exaggerated self-confidence

Healthy self-confidence is necessary in sales, but only if it is based on real numbers and realistic ambitions.

4. Keep all the numbers in your head

If you are not positively confident in the numbers you are presenting and using to engage the prospect, you can only hardly expect people trust your opinion.

5. Be creative and unique

To differentiate yourself from your competition, you have to offer a unique and creative solution that will put the extra value to your product that will make prospects prefer you over your competitors.

6. Listen

Many salespeople merely pretend that they are listening, but in the end they offer everybody the same solution. Don't be like that. Really listen.

7. Small-talk

Do you think that informal conversation not related to business (so-called small-talk) is useless? You aren't taking a great opportunity to build rapport with your client.
