How to achieve a work-life balance as a salesperson

Salespeople are often victims of „burnout“ syndrome. One of the reasons is that it's a profession that makes it difficult to find a good work-life balance.

Being satisfied and finding a suitable combination of the two worlds is good for everybody. We'll tell you how to do it.

Have firmly set working hours

According to INC.com, sales professionals need to adjust to the schedules of their prospective clients. However, it's necessary to keep this willingness within clear, pre-defined limits which don't keep you from being successful.

You should always make a thorough two-week schedule of your on and off-work hours. Make your family familiar with this calendar and use it at work.

Don't take work home

A very frequent problem is mixing your personal life and work. People often deal with personal stuff at work, and then keep working a little when they're home. They keep checking their phone and e-mail, or they get things ready.

Of course, there might be emergency situations that make you work from home from time to time. But generally you should strictly separate the two worlds, and always give your full attention to just one of them.

Plan your vacation ahead

The way you spend your vacation and the way you plan it is important for preventing burnout. A well-deserved rest is important, work can wait.

Schedule things so that you can really put down your phone, and then pick it up at the end of your vacation without feeling guilty that there are things that require your presence at work. A well-planned, active vacation will make you feel relaxed, and is crucial for your happiness both at work and in your personal life.
